Katrin's Norton C652 Post-Production Bike

Having spent her "restricted licence" for a couple of years on her "Babyblue Madness", her 150cc MZ, Katrin wanted a "real" motorcycle after having her full license.
Leftover from the C652 production run was a sole spare frame, a couple of swinging arms, engines, forks, wheels, brakes etc, etc.
"Why don't you build a bike for yourself from it?" her father suggested. And that is exactly what Katrin did.
The only big item that had to be made was the aluminium petrol tank- there was no spare one. Apart from some very small fittings everything else was there, so Katrin spent a few enjoyable weeks on and off assembling her own bike. There are occasional advantages having a father who owns a motorcycle firm...

Due to the emissions certificate for the C652 models about to run out- a new, sharper ECE regulation was to be introduced in the New Year- the bike was registered and approved in November.
This now puts all MOT (TUEV) checks into an awkward season of the year and habitually lets us postpone them till spring.
Katrin's bike was in a calendar once. It differs from the "production" bikes in that it has a wider rear rim, both rims are polished, and the petrol tank has the traditional "Norton Registered Trade Mark" transfers which, in retrospect, we should have fitted to the production bikes instead of the retro plastic emblems that constantly seem to crack and don't look as nice, either!
